MacLean-Fogg Proud to Sponsor Formula SAE Michigan for the Third Year
MacLean-Fogg (M-F) was excited to sponsor the 2017 Formula SAE® in Michigan May 10-13th. The International Formula SAE® program is a collegiate engineering design competition. The competition provides participants with the opportunity to enhance their engineering design and project management skills by applying learned classroom theories in a challenging competition. The engineering design goal for teams is to develop and construct a single-seat race car for the non-professional weekend autocross racer with the best overall package of design, construction, performance and cost.
MacLean-Fogg is the premier, worldwide supplier of value-added, engineered, and customer-focused solutions that leverage their material forming expertise in key product fields. Partnering with the Formula SAE® program allows M-F to interact with the engineering leaders of tomorrow.
Dave Lomasney, MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions Division President, stated, “Our involvement with the SAE provides us with an opportunity to meet with top engineering students and introduce them to M-F.” Rob Whitney, Engineered Plastics Division President, said, “The Formula SAE® program enables students to apply their talents and gain valuable skills in preparation for their careers at a company like ours.”
Kyle Kapa is a Senior Application Engineer for MacLean-Fogg’s Component Solutions Division. He says, “As a SAE Formula alumni, I can attest to how valuable the experience is for aspiring engineers. Not only does the competition allows students to take what they’ve learned in the classroom and apply it to a real world application, but it also introduces students to the reality of timelines, specifications, costing, manufacturability and failures. The MacLean-Fogg sponsorship of the event is a great fit; the company culture of entrepreneurship and hands on engineering is the embodiment of the SAE Collegiate Design Series.”
Tyler Krohn, Product Manager for MacLean’s Highline division says, “To say that I work for a company supporting the FSAE competitions is an honor. As a FSAE competition alumni, I can say that participating in FSAE is the best real world experience a student can have before starting their career.”
