Warm Forming
MFCS Chesterfield Township was founded in 1947 as Maynard Manufacturing and joined the MacLean-Fogg family in 1997. MacLean Maynard is a major supplier to the transportation industries. Our fastener forming technologies include not just cold forming, but warm forming as well.
Warm forming is a process of forming “exotic” alloys at relatively high temperature to improve the formability of these materials. This allows these exotic materials to be formed into net shape products with high efficiency and value. Typical materials for our warm forming process include Nickel super-alloys (examples include Inconel 718, Nimonic 80A) and Stainless Steel. These materials are common in high temperature and extreme environments. Warm forming technology is an ideal solution for materials having poor aptitude to be formed at room temperature.
At Maynard, we use a SACMA warm former with integrated heating, operating, temperature regulating, and safety systems. Though our main product line is externally threaded fasteners, our warm forming technology can also form pins, rivets and other special parts.
Benefits of our warm forming process are as follows:
• High tensile strength end products
• Better product surface quality
• Lower product surface decarburization
• Efficient heating energy
• Adjustable forming temperature
• Better precision, quality and safety
We would be happy to talk to you about your product needs to see if our warm forming capability can provide a component solution for you. For further information on our technology or products, please contact us.
